The Hoosier Herp Society invites you to engage in our diverse and exciting outreach opportunities, where learning comes alive through hands-on, interactive experiences with the enchanting world of herpetology.
Herp-Related Field Trips: We offer field trips that take participants on a journey into various habitats of reptiles and amphibians. Guided by our expert herpetologists, these trips offer unparalleled insights into herp behavior, survival strategies, and unique adaptations. It's a fantastic way to foster appreciation and understanding of herps in their natural environments.
Herp Surveys: Join us in our critical conservation work through herp surveys. These surveys, including methods like coverboard monitoring, help assess the types and abundance of herp species in specific areas. By participating, you'll contribute to vital data collection, learn about different species and their habitats, and understand the importance of maintaining biodiversity.
Frog Call Surveys: We also conduct frog call surveys, which are both fun and educational. Participants learn to identify various species of frogs and toads by their distinctive calls, gaining a deeper understanding of these unique amphibians and their role in the ecosystem.
Each outreach activity not only adds to your understanding of herpetology but also contributes to local conservation efforts. These experiences provide an enjoyable and informative way to connect with nature and support herpetological conservation.
