Dr. Rod Williams

Dr. Rod Williams, Vice Provost for Outreach and Engagement at Texas Tech University, is a celebrated herpetologist with a rich background in the ecology and conservation of amphibians and reptiles, particularly the eastern hellbender. Prior to his current role, Dr. Williams significantly contributed to engagement and research at Purdue University, where he also served as vertebrate curator. His extensive work on state-endangered eastern hellbenders in Indiana involves rearing, DNA analysis, and successful reintroduction efforts. Dr. Williams has shared his expertise with the Hoosier Herp Society, providing vital updates on hellbender conservation efforts, a project now continued by Nick Burgmeier at Purdue.
